Madhya Pradesh Tourism Announces Namaste Orchha

I was reading a book, few years ago, in which it was mentioned that the food was different from one group or class to another one. Madhya Pradesh, the geographical heartland of India, is primarily high plateau country. Madhya Pradesh has endless options to explore in the field of wildlife, customs, culture, traditions, monument, forts, palaces, etc. Arrive Jhansi and proceed to Orcha- medieval city of Orcha flanked by the river Betwa, known for its palaces and temples of the 16th and 17th century built by Bundela rulers.

Come to think of it, this palace was built by Maharaja Bir Singh Deo for his childhood friend prince Salim, who later became the Mughal emperor Jehangir. The world renowned temple, Chaturbhuj Temple was built by Queen of Orchha, Ganeshi Bai. In admiration and honor of her art, the king built this beautiful palace, which came to be known as the Rai Praveen Mahal.

It is especially famous for its two elevated minarets called Saavan and Bhadon; and its four opulent palaces such as Jahangir Palace, Rai Praveen Mahal, Raja Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal. The palace has great architecture with beautiful carvings all around, and also the second floor of the palace has numerous picturesque scenes of Nritya Mudra , which are the poses and postures of Indian dance.

Orchha is a heritage tourism destination so can be visited throughout the season. Its esoteric architecture curiously interchanges fort elements and temple moulds. It is located around 80 km away from Tikamgarh district in Madhya Pradesh and 15 km from Jhansi of Uttar Pradesh Orchha was built by king Rudra Pratap Singh of Bundela dynasty in the 16th century.

Raj Mahal, the second palace in this fort complex is well known for its murals, depicting religious themes. A number of monuments belonging to this period including Jhansi Fort and Rani Jhansi's Palace Orchha are important tourist attractions of Jhansi. The most visited places in the heritage area are Raja Mahal and Jahangir Mahal.

Adding to its ongoing initiatives to promote Madhya Pradesh as a leading tourism destination in the country, the State Tourism Board announced ‘Namaste Orchha', a new festival scheduled to be held from March 6-8, 2020, celebrating the cultural landscape of the state in the historic town of Orchha.
